The Government of the United Arab Emirates
United Arab Emirates is a federation founded in December 2, 1971 and is made up of seven emirates: Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah. The UAE has a constitution which explains the basic rules of the political and constitutional organization of the state and the foundations of the Union and its objectives.
The Federal Supreme Council
It is the highest constitutional authority in the United Arab Emirates. It is the highest legislative and executive body, and sets the public policy and federal legislation. The Federal Supreme Council is made up of the rulers of the seven Emirates constituting the Federation or their deputies in their emirates in the case of their absence. Each of them has one vote in the Council's decisions.
Federal Government Entities
The ministries, bodies and Federal councils handles the affairs of the Government at the federal level, while each emirate has its own local government departments.
